HOW IT WORKS
he journey begins in Tortola, where the thirty six aspiring pirates arrive
from Miami Airport to a beachfront cocktail party and orientation, where
the buccaneers meet one another and are introduced to the Captains and
staff. Boat assignments are made, clue books and materials are distributed
and the crews retire to Prospect Reef Hotel and Spa.

arly the next morning, after a hearty breakfast, crews board their ships,
hoist their sails and make way for Norman Island, the actual island that
was the setting for Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. As the
captains guide the boats through the crystal blue waters, crews gather on
deck to begin deciphering the day's clues. Once at their destination, the
boats drop anchor, crews go ashore in their dinghies and the hunt begins!

epending on the nature of the clues, the teams may find themselves
exploring hidden corners of the islands, venturing through challenging
terrain and trespassing on the watery graves of Blackbeard and his cut-
throat crew. Often the clues are integrated into local activities and hidden
amongst the island residents. The six crews will no doubt cross paths
during the hunt, so strategy and speed are of the essence.

Each day's clues will lead the pirates to different types of treasures:
Gifts like underwater cameras, watches, antique souvenirs, art objects,
jewels etc.), and golden dubloons worth cash plus integral pieces of the
Grand Booty.

t sunset the crews meet for dinner at a local restaurant or a torchlit beach
luau, where they compare notes and recount tales of the day's adventures.
After a delectable feast they drink and dance into the night until, finally
spent, they climb back into their dinghies and back to their moonlit ships.
Snug in their berths, they are rocked to sleep by the gentle breath of the
Caribbean sea, left to dream of pirates and treasure and the next day's hunt.

rom Norman Island, the armada slides by St. John and into Jost Van
Dyke
harbour where you can hear the mix of music from Foxy's, Harris'
and Sydney's Bars, the notorious clubs on this "party" island. After the
days treasures are discovered, the Pirates dine and dance the night away.
The next day, the ships set sail at noon for Cane Garden Bay, on Tortola's
North shore, where the secluded tropical beach gives up hidden treasures and a
luscious lobster feast with exotic rum drinks from nearby Callwood Distillery.
In the morning the boats weigh anchor and set off on the longest sail of the
voyage. As the captains navigate the open sea off the Northern coast of
Tortola, they slip past Mosquito Island and make port at Virgin Gorda's
famous Bitter End. After the days treasure hunting, the cool ocean breezes
and crystal clear water make for a perfect afternoon of snorkeling and
windsurfing or just swaying in a hammock with a Pusser's Rum in hand. The Bitter
End Yacht Club
is host to one of the finest restaurants in the Caribbean, where
a feast befitting the hungry hunters is served in the best Island style.

n Beef Island, Trellis Bay is the site of the next treasure hunt and the
home of Tony and Jackie Snell's " Last Resort," with the best buffet and
entertainment in the BVIs. After a night of gorging and debauchery, the
crews make a late start in the morning and head across Sir Francis Drake
Channel to Dead Man's Bay on Peter Island. Here lies the ultimate
treasure, waiting to be discovered by only the most clever and cunning of
pirates.

hat night, the crews are treated to a moonlit beach party catered by Chef
Wilford "Willo" Stoutt of the elite Peter Island Resort followed by a fireworks
display that would shiver the timbers of Blackbeard himself.

he last day's sail returns the treasure-laden crews to Road Town Tortola
and the Prospect Reef Hotel, where the weary sailors retire their sea-legs
and rest up for the last night's gala events. A private bus will gingerly
climb a mountain road to Paul and Leona Wattley's "Cloud Room,
overlooking all of Tortola and the Caribbean Sea. After a fine meal and
Paul's special surprise, awards will be presented and a final toast will be
made to Blackbeard and his men, and to the thirty six modern-day pirates
that have followed his trail, forging friendships and memories that will last
a lifetime.
In the morning, crews pack up their loot and head back to Miami all made
richer by the most romantic and exciting adventure of their lives.

ABOUT THE CREATORS
lackbeard's Treasure Hunt was conceived by composer/producer
David Lucas. A successful New York jingle writer, who wrote such hits as
"Reach Out and Touch Someone" and "GE We Bring Good Things to
Life".
He is also an adventurer who has traveled the world seeking exciting places.
An avid sailor, David has spent years sailing from New England to the
Caribbean. His creative talents, combined with a fascination for the British
Virgin Islands and the lore of pirates and hidden treasure, was the
inspiration that launched the original Treasure Hunt.

As a record producer,(Blue Oyster Cult, Carly Simon) David has honed
his organizational and leadership skills, inspiring confidence and
encouraging perseverance. Anyone who knows him can attest to the fact
that he is a true "Renaissance Man" who enjoys sharing his passions. His
meticulous attention to detail and his ability to cultivate the adventurous
spirit in us all, makes him the perfect person to man the helm of
Blackbeard's Treasure Hunt.

David's first mate and "co-conspirator" is his daughter, Lisa Lucas.
Lisa, was a professional child-actress appearing in film and television
("House Without A Christmas Tree" with Jason Robards, "An Unmarrried
Woman" with Jill Clayburgh, "Family Ties" and "Facts of Life".) A
graduate of Cordon Bleu in Paris, she spent several years in Europe as a
chef working in renowned restaurants. She returned to New York City
where she designed, built and opened a 5,000 square-foot restaurant near
Times Square. Being David's daughter, she could not help but inherit a
love for the islands, sailing and the thrill of adventure.

Together, David and Lisa have worked in tandem to bring Blackbeard's
Treasure Hunt to fruition. Their combined experience in the
entertainment industry, their respective professional backgrounds and
their collaborative imagination and finesse, ensure that any venture they
pursue will meet with success.
